McKenna Merten started racing BMX at the local track at 6 years old. It was a few short months later that she turned GIRLS and started racing Nationals. Her present for her 7th birthday was a mountain bike, and the next day she headed to Mammoth Mountain for a week. One of her first mountain bike rides was down the Kamikaze. Continuing to race BMX both locally and Nationally, McKenna began racing downhill at age 9. 2014 will be her third full season of downhill racing, and she looks forward to another great year of hard work and progression towards her goal of one day racing Downhill World Cups.
McKenna is also a straight A student at The Language Academy, and speaks French fluently. She understands how important her education is, and spends a considerable amount of time studying and doing homework. When she isn’t training, or between the books, she usually is playing with her two best friends, her sisters.
